Short answer: Brimar can add foil stamping, embossing, debossing and blind embossing to your set-up box, inside and out, along with protective coatings: varnish, aqueous, UV or film lamination. Each finish changes how the box looks, feels and holds up.

Foil stamping

Foil stamping presses a thin layer of metallic or colored foil onto the box with heat. It gives a brilliance that ink can’t match. Brimar offers a wide range of matte, gloss, metallic and holographic foils. A gold or silver foil logo on a dark paper is a classic premium look, and you can combine any foil with thousands of colored, patterned or themed papers to match your brand.

Embossing and debossing

  • Embossing raises your logo or design up off the surface so customers can feel it.
  • Debossing presses it down into the surface.
  • Blind embossing is a raised design with no ink or foil, so it’s the same color as the paper. It creates a picture through texture and gives a quiet, elegant look.

You can also put foil on top of embossing for a design that both shines and stands out.

Coatings and lamination

Coatings go over the printed wrap to protect it and give a gloss or matte finish:

  • Varnish: Often enough to keep simple logos from rubbing off.
  • Aqueous coating: A harder, water-based coating that protects heavy print coverage.
  • UV coating: Makes images “pop” off the paper.
  • Film lamination: A thin plastic film over the paper, used when no other coating gives enough protection.

Printing options

Under the finishes, you can print anything from a simple one- or two-color logo (the most cost-effective choice) to full four-color photos.

How to choose

  • Want “luxury” at a glance? Foil stamping, often over embossing.
  • Want subtle elegance? Blind embossing on a textured paper.
  • Heavy printing or lots of handling? Aqueous coating or film lamination.
  • Bright photos? Four-color printing with UV coating.

Note that finishes affect cost. There’s a one-time charge for printing plates and dies, including foil stamping and embossing dies. If recycling matters to you, check your local rules for foil-stamped and laminated boxes. Ask us what fits your budget.
