Short answer: Every custom rigid box Brimar makes is quoted to your exact specs, so there’s no price list. The price per box mostly depends on size, cardboard thickness, paper, printing and finishes, inserts, and how many boxes you order.
Why there’s no price list
Just like fingerprints, every box we make is unique. A small, plain jewelry box and a large, foil-stamped box with a foam insert are very different jobs. That’s why every price is custom quoted. A custom rigid box generally costs dollars per box rather than cents, but it adds value, durability and brand recognition that a plain stock box can’t.
What affects the price
- Size: Bigger boxes use more cardboard and paper. Sizes close to our machines’ largest or smallest limits can also take longer to make.
- Cardboard (chipboard) thickness and color: Board runs from thin .030″ (30pt) to heavy .100″ (100pt), in white, black, chocolate or natural chip. Thicker board costs more but feels sturdier.
- Paper wrap: Plain gloss or matte papers, foil papers, embossed papers, and themed or patterned papers all price differently. Custom-printed paper adds printing costs.
- Printing and finishes: One- or two-color line art is the most cost-effective. Four-color photos, foil stamping, embossing and coatings add cost (and impact).
- One-time charges: There’s a one-time charge for printing plates and dies, such as the dies used for foil stamping and embossing.
- Inserts: Simple chipboard platforms and trays are inexpensive. Die-cut foam, peachboard or vacuum-formed plastic cost more. See Box Inserts.
- Quantity: The more boxes you order, the lower the price per box.
- Freight: Shipping is part of your total cost. Your quote shows who pays freight.
Ways to keep costs down
- Ask for several quantities. We’re happy to quote a few quantities so you can see how the unit price drops. See Long & Short Runs.
- Use a patterned paper. Themed and patterned papers give a custom look without the cost of custom graphics.
- Use belly bands for many products. One box with different printed belly bands can be cheaper than printing many different boxes.
- No box tooling for most sizes. Our set-up box machines don’t need special tooling to make most box sizes, so changing a size later doesn’t mean buying new tooling for the box itself.
- Order more, store with us. A custom warehousing program lets you order a bigger run at a lower unit price and have boxes shipped as you need them. Programs can include billing upon release and special financing.
