Short answer: A rigid set-up box is built in our factory, lid and base, and can’t be folded flat without destroying it, so it arrives fully assembled and ready to pack. That saves you labor, but the boxes take up more space, so plan for clean, dry storage or let Brimar store them for you.
Why they arrive assembled
A set-up box is made by wrapping and gluing paper around a sturdy cardboard tray. Once it’s made, it keeps its shape for good. That’s what makes it strong, with no raw edges, and it won’t come apart like flat, folded packaging.
Why that’s good for you
- No assembly labor: Your team just opens the lid, packs the product, and closes it. As labor costs rise, skipping box assembly helps protect your margins.
- Faster packing: There’s no folding, taping or gluing on your packing line.
- Consistent quality: Every box arrives the same shape and size, made by machines built for the job.
The trade-off: space
Assembled boxes take up more room than flat packaging. Brimar packs your boxes in cartons and palletizes them for shipping. Before you order, ask your Custom Box Expert how much space your order will need so you can plan for it.
How to store your boxes
These are good general practices for any paper-wrapped rigid box:
- Keep them dry. Moisture and humidity can warp cardboard and loosen paper. Store boxes off the floor.
- Avoid heat and direct sunlight. Sun can fade printed and colored papers.
- Keep them in their cartons until you need them, to protect against dust and scuffs.
- Don’t overload stacks. Too much weight on top can crush lower cartons.
- Use first in, first out, especially if you change designs or seasonal papers.
Let Brimar store them for you
If space is tight, Brimar can design a custom warehousing program that holds your boxes until you’re ready for them. You can order in bigger volume to lower your price per box, protect yourself from rising material and labor costs, and never run out. Programs are built around your needs and can include billing upon release (you’re billed as boxes are released to you) and special financing.
